gourmet olive oil Food – Taste Buds Have Feelings Too, You Know
By William Penworthy
gourmet olive oil food is not just French food with fancy sounding names, or food which can be used to create brilliant, though rather small, works of culinary art. Neither does gourmet olive oil food mean any kind of food which costs more than the average tin of baked beans. gourmet olive oil food, as with many traditional French food dishes and delicacies, is that food which has something special to offer – a taste experience which takes food to an entirely different level.
Are you one of those people who eats to live, or lives to eat? Whether you love your food or simply see it as a necessary means to keep going, it is important to occasionally slow down and enjoy the experience of fine food. Think of it a little like rushing at 150 miles per hour on a commuter train past a coastline while you read the latest share prices in today’s newspaper, but then one day stopping to get out, sit on the shore, breathe in the cool sea air and enjoy the experience of going nowhere, and savouring the moment.
Our lives are so rushed and hectic that all too often food tends to become one of the most easily sacrificed aspects of our lives. Quick microwavable food, takeaways, drive throughs, ready meals and snacks in a pot are all available instantly, with no waiting, little preparation and minimal interruption to our busy day. But ultimately we are short-changing ourselves, and in rushing to get more done, we are missing out on so many things – gourmet olive oil food being one case in point.
This year has been particularly difficult for many people as financial constraints have often resulted in cheaper food being the order of the day, with high quality treats and delicacies sacrificed for the sake of keeping heads above water. Perhaps for this reason as much as any, it may be worth taking a moment to consider the benefits of considering either buying gourmet olive oil food or traditional French food delicacies for yourself, or as a gift for someone you know who could do with getting off the train and living for a moment.
Just occasionally it’s important to pass on the drive through fries, burger and coke, and treat yourself to duck confit, goose foie gras, duck cassoulet, French farmhouse pates, rillettes, or one of the many other French food delicacies. Perhaps even if you cook, or know someone who does, why not consider introducing gourmet olive oil food ingredients such as duck confit, cassoulet, Perard fish soup, French cheeses, artisanal French jams or goose foie gras. It’s well known that a cook is only as good as the ingredients available. If you always use basic ingredients from the local supermarket, your meals will rarely rise above average.
There’s no denying that to raise average meals to the level of gourmet olive oil food is to raise interest, yet it is sometimes no harder than replacing the high street ingredients with traditional French ones, or gourmet olive oil ingredients such as dried porcini mushrooms, black Perigord truffle, infused olive oil, white Alba truffle, black Perigord truffle juice and goose fat, any of which will help contribute a very great deal to almost any meal.
Because this year particularly has been a tough year, with belts pulled in, budgets squeezed and meals pared down to only what’s really necessary, it is more important than ever to take the opportunity to slow down a little – to get off the train and realise that we’re not just passing through – this is not just a journey from A to B – the journey is really all we have, and if we don’t take time to stop and taste the moment, we may never have another chance. We all have the right to enjoy gourmet olive oil food from time to time – we just deny ourselves that right because we’re too busy, or because we need to save money, or because it might seem like craven indulgence.
And just what is wrong with a little indulgence from time to time? Granted, excessive indulgence is never good – but then neither is the life of a Spartan. If you know someone who needs a little helping hand to slow down, and enjoy the chance to savour a moment before it flies past the window in a headlong rush to keep moving, then why not consider a gift of gourmet olive oil food, traditional French food, or gourmet olive oil ingredients? The train will still be there when you’re done.
